her hands are wrinkled
stained
with blood from years past
open sores that never quite healed
the razor blade drags across
her skin, tearing flesh
she feels it snag
& revels in it. her life is in
the snags
smell of flesh burning
melting away years of pain
the skin peels off
like so many memories
she left behind
& are not healed over
like these wounds
